Chennaites who are depressed to see the heat waves can have a relief now. The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) here has predicted partly cloudy days to prevail over Chennai this week. The weatherman has forecast light rain or thundershowers over Chennai and the situation is likely to remain the same for the rest of this week.
The officials said an upper air cyclonic circulation lies over west central bay off south Andhra Pradesh and north Tamilnadu coast at 5.8 km above sea level. They also said the nature of monsoon has turned from moderate to strong over Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea.
Due to this, isolated rainfall occurred over Andhra Pradesh, Tamilnadu, Telangana and interior Karnataka, they explained.
RMC deputy director general, S Stella has mentioned, For the next 24 hours, isolated rainfall may occur over Tamilnadu, Puducherry, north interior Karnataka and south coastal Andhra Pradesh.
The maximum and minimum temperature for Chennai would be 38 and 28 degrees Celsius respectively.
