Low data on WhatsApp calls

WhatsApp has released its new 2.12.183 version for Android phones. The stand out update in this version is the low data usage option for voice calls. The ‘Low Data Usage’ tab can be found under Chat Settings. By switching on this option, 25 per cent of bandwidth can be saved. The option can be tried out in the iOS 2.12.5 beta version.
WhatsApp introduced free voice calls which was welcomed by users. However, it was soon found that the calls used up a large chunk of data, and so the usage decreased. This new update looks to reduce data usage.
