Stamps with stickers without the need to use gums - New effort from India Post!

`Clean India` is among the most prestigious & ambitious projects of the Prime Minister/ He plans to keep the entire country clean.
This was launched on 2nd October, Mahatma Gandhi`s birthday and the project has been hugely popular with cooperation from several fronts.
Now, India Post has come up with a new step towards this project.
It is planning to get rid of the usage of gum/glue which is currently used to fix the stamps and make self-sticking stamps.
Stamps signify the fees for taking the letters from one place to another. However, there are many people with much more interest about postal stamps. There are many people all over the world with the hobby of collecting postage stamps, which is known as `philately`.
Stamps have been used in India from the year 1854.
Postage Stamps are printed at the Security Press in Nasik City, Maharashtra.
Right from the introductory stage, gums have been used to fix he stamps.
Though the stamps carry a little quantity of adhesive, still water or gum is required to fix them.
Hence, gum is kept at the service counters of all Post Offices for public use. However, people tend to misuse this facility using their own individual method to apply gum, by overuse or rubbing the excess on the cover itself or on the walls. This makes the Post Office to be unclean. Some people tend use saliva to fix the stamps.
With the Prime Minister`s initiative of Clean India project, the Indian Postal Department has now decided to introduce self-sticking stamps. This will be first made available at `My Stamp` Postal Services.
Head of the Tamil Nadu Postal Circle for Commercial Development, Mr. S. C. Barma, informed that this will be gradually introduced to all stamps.
