No holidays for government schools and colleges

Following the death of ex-President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam The government has declared a national mourning period of 7 days.
Holidays were declared for private schools and colleges but the education department did not make announcement regarding government schools. Seeing the announcements made in some private TV channels some children did not go to school. Even teachers were waiting for the government orders but when nothing came they went to school.
The declaration of week-long mourning had thus created confusion about the status of schools and colleges on Tuesday, but it has now been confirmed that these institutions will remain open.
