IIT Bombay is conducting a new online course about the Introduction of basic concepts and application of thermodynamics in mechanical engineering. This course ME209.1x is a very basic course in the subject and is designed to teach students about mechanical engineering. All terms and concepts of thermodynamics are included in the course.
Course Syllabus:
· The ways to relate with zeroth, first and second law of thermodynamic properties such as temperature, energy and entropy and their interactions with work and heat
· Interpretation of entropy change and entropy production and other related terms isentropic and reversible
· Derivation of property relations in an easy manner and getting used to steam tables
· Methods to solve problems with the application of first and second law of thermodynamics
Prerequisites needed for the course:
Basic knowledge in high school physics and chemistry and ability to perform college calculus including differentiation, integration, partial derivatives, exact differentials, etc are needed for the candidates.
The course is set to begin on 4th of August and it will be a 20 weeks course.
