Statue of the great film music director MS Viswanathan to be set up in Chennai

In the recent condolence meeting conducted for the late film music director Mellisai Mannar MS Viswanathan, an appeal was made to install his statue in Chennai.

The great film music director MS Viswanathan passed away recently on 14th July due to ill-health.

A condolence meeting was conducted in Chennai on behalf of Tamil Nadu Film Music artistes.

SA Rajkumar, president of Tamil Nadu File Music Artistes Association, presided.

The popular film music maestro, Ilayaraja, led the event and opened the portrait of MS Viswanathan.

Gandhi Kanndadasan, son of the legendary Tamil film lyricist/poet Kannadasan, requested in his speech that a statue of MS Viswanathan should be installed in Chennai preferably in Mylapore Luz Corner or Beach Junction.

Film Music Director Gangai Amaren responded that activities have already started for installing a statue of MS Viswanathan and he would personally take responsibility for the same.

While addressing the gathering, Isai Gnani Ilayaraja observed that he would have completed the task of installing the statue of MS Viswanathan if it has been proposed to him. However, the activities are already started. It would be installed in Chennai.  The music director`s music will be an inspiration and a tonic to us.

Music directors SA Rajkumar, D Imman, Srikant Deva, S S Dhaman, Santhosh Narayanan, Vidyasagar, G V Prakash kumar, and playback singers S P Charan, Harichara, Unnikrishnan, Vani Jayaram, Kamala, Saindhavi, and poets/lyricists Muthulingam, Piraisoodan, Film Directors Association President Vikraman, FEFSI President G Siva, and Music Directors Association General Secretary A Dominique Xavier participated.
