The prices of tomatoes and other vegetables in Chennai are coming down but the price of onions has gone up by Rs 3 per kilo when compared to last week.

Vegetables are being brought by trucks from Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra to Koyambedu Vegetable Wholesale Market every day.

During the months of June and July, tomatoes, drumsticks and broad beans were sold for Rs 40 per kilo. Since there is more harvest now, the prices of the vegetables are gradually coming down. Since there is no onion supply for the last three weeks, the prices of onions have shot up.
