City hotels to be sensitised on rainwater harvesting

Voluntary organisation Rain Centre has launched an awareness programme on rainwater harvesting and water conservation. They intend to target hotels in the city - many hotels have not invested in rain water harvesting and there is tremendous waste of water in them. Many hotels depend on tankers for their daily water supply.
Some hotels that have invested in rain water harvesting have done so only on the roof tops. They have not harvested water from the driveway runoff, which is a major source of water. Studies show that harnessing even 60% of the rainwater in 2400 sq. ft. are supply 50 litres per day for a person.
