78 days wages as bonus for railway Employees!

The Ministry of Railways has announced yesterday (Wednesday, 7th October) that a bonus of 78 days wages will be paid to all railway employees.
12.58 Lakh railway employees will benefit by this announcement.
A total of 12.58 lakh people are employed in 17 regions of Indian Railways. These employees are paid bonus during Ayudha Pooja period every year. Accordingly, Railways has announced the bonus this year to be equivalent of 78 days wages.
As per this announcement, 12.58 lakh railway employees, in the non-officer category, will benefit.
Each employee will receive a bonus amount of Rs. 8975/-.
The department of the Ministry of railways informs that the expense due to this will be Rs. 1030 Crores.
It is worth noting in this context that Railways have been paying a bonus of 78 days’ wages without any change during the last 5 years!
