Bangalore is generally considered to be the Technology Capital of India – however, a research has recorded that only 17% households in the city of Bangalore have internet connections.
Government of Karnataka state recently released statistics gathered in the year 2011 with data sorted on social, economic, and caste basis.
According to the above statistics, it is revealed that out of the 25 lakh houses in the city of Bangalore, only 3.98 lakh households have internet connection.
It is also revealed that 76.39% of the households do not use computers or laptops.
A possible explanation given is that this low figure of internet connectivity in the city households may be due to the internet connectivity available on cell-phones.
Another explanation is that broadband services have not been doing well in their business whereas it is easier to get internet connectivity on the cell-phones.
