On occasion of Ayudha Pooja and Muharam festivals, 500 special buses are being operated from Chennai to southern districts of Tamil Nadu.
Lots of people pertaining to southern districts are staying and working in Chennai. They will go to their native place to celebrate the festivals like Pongal, Deepavali and other festivals. So in order to clear the rush special buses and trains will be operated during the festive seasons.
Tomorrow 21st the Ayudha Pooja festival is celebrated and on 24th Muharam festival is celebrated. Hence there will be continuous holidays from 21st.
The advance booking for the special trains announced for the festive season has been completed. Hence many people were depending on the buses. In order to satisfy their expectations, Tamil Nadu Government is operating special buses.
An official of the Transport Department said, We are operating additional buses for the convenience of the people. We have started operating special buses from 19th midnight. Yesterday morning there was a heavy crowd. So we started operating more than 100 buses from Chennai to southern districts via Villupuram, Trichy, Salem and Madurai between 10 AM to 3 PM. Since more passengers will be travelling today, we have decided to operate 500 special buses to southern districts. So there will no hindrance for people to travel to their native places.”
