Child Development Service has been a major constituent of focus for Tamil Nadu State Government an in accordance to this, the Government has allotted a whopping amount of Rs.13.34Lacs for developing software under the Indira Gandhi Matritva Sahyog Yojana Scheme for 2015-16.
This software will be catering to the needs of maintaining a record of progress of about 64Lac children based on the aspects of health and their primary education. This is being processed under Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Scheme, which is completely dedicated to the establishment of Child Tracking and Monitoring System - RECAP, which means Reach Every Child And Protect.
As an initial stage of process, the data collection process through this software will be experimented as a pilot project in Cuddalore and Erode. Anna University has been assigned to develop this software and with apparent success, the software will extend its feat towards other parts of the state. For now, the date involving 1 year age of infants is collected through software named Pregnancy and Infant Cohort Monitoring and Evaluation (PICME) followed by children between 5 and 14 years of age through Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA). So the major gap happens to be between 1 and 5 years, which this software will emphasize the data and record of children health and educational progress.
For the moment, the data has to be collected at Anganwadi centre level following which after the development of pilot project, the details about the children at institutions of Juvenile Justice Act, Open shelters, National Child Labour Project, etc would be extended upon for inclusion.
