The surplus waters received at the lakes of Chembarambakkam and Madhuranthakam have been released.
With the filling up of the reservoirs in Madhuranthakam Lake in Kanchipuram due to the recent heavy rains, the quantity of surplus water released has been increased.
With increased inflow, considering the safety aspect, the surplus water is released at 20400 cubic feet per second. Similarly, the water being released from Chembarambakkam Lake has been increased from 5000 cft to 6000 cft.
Due to this, flood warnings have been issued to residents of Adyar river banks and nearby.
The surplus water released from Poondi reservoir has been increased from 8000 cft to 10000 cft.
The surplus water at Puzhal Lake, situated in Red Hills, is released at 2000 cft per second.
The surplus water from Porur Lake is released at 400 cft.
