The Chennai airport has resumed operations for all domestic and international flights both day and night.
An official press release from the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has said, The availability of Chennai airport for all weather day and night operations for all flights for which domestic and international terminals will be available from 6 am of 7.12.2015. This followed an inspection by DGCA for night operations.
After heavy rains on Tuesday, the airport was forced to shut down operations. Technical and ferry flights were allowed from Saturday. The airport had opened operations for domestic flights operating during day time on Sunday. The first flight to operate on Sunday was Air India flight to Port Blair. Only Air India flights operated till 5 pm on Sunday. Almost 600 passengers were taken in. Another flight that operated and contained two crew members was a stranded Oman Air, which took off for Muscat.
IndiGo Airlines released a press statement that said, We would operate more number of flights from Chennai on Monday to Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad. (We have) operated one service in Bangalore-Chennai-Mumbai-Delhi sector.
On Monday morning, a Jet Airways flight took off from Chennai to Bangalore.
