When it is rainy season, bikers need to be alert. After all these bikes are not fully protected like cars that are fully covered and shielded. It is hence important for all the bikers to take extra efforts to keep their machine protected. This article is mainly for those who do not have a covered parking lot and in those areas that are prone to waterlogging and stagnation.
Cover it properly:
One of the most common menaces during monsoon season is that your bike gets wet. It is a blessing if you have covered parking. If you don`t have one, you will have to opt for buying a rain proof cover. Only then will you be able to avoid sitting on a wet bike!
Apply anti-rust protection layer:
This is mainly for all those who own Enfield. These days, most bikes have got fiber bodies that make it resistant to rusting. However, there is a metal frame on almost all bikes and hence they require protection. It is always best to get an anti-rust protection layer applied for protection.
Try for Teflon Coating:
Though most people don`t recommend to go for a Teflon coating, it helps in protecting your bike from water. By giving this coat, you can ensure that the paint on your bike doesn`t get washed away in the rain.
It is really tiresome to manage driving your bike during the monsoon season. What makes it difficult is that it is so hard to grip on to the tyre. To manage this, you may make use of specialized monsoon tyres or even the regular one will do too. Make sure that the tyre is of good shape and have got optimum tread levels that provide enough grip. If it is not so, it is better to replace it.
It is obvious that the monsoon season leaves all roads muddy. Here comes the need for regular maintenance of bike chain. Get it cleaned for every 500km of usage. However, do not practice this during monsoon season as the chain will get dirtier so quick and the lubrication on the chain will get washed off so often during this season. Keep lubricating the chain often and keep it clean as per your convenience.
Get it parked in covered parking spots:
We all hate to park our bike in open areas alongside roads while going out. So, look for covered parking spaces. You may even choose to park it under a tree.
Clean the air filter:
There will be a lot of moisture content in the air during monsoon season. This will increase the level of moisture content in the air that will eventually end up tearing it or leave them clogged thereby not allowing proper flow of air to pass through. This is the cause for bike stalling or jerks when your pull the accelerator. Hence keep cleaning the air filter and have it fresh always.
Practice these simple steps and keep your bike up and running during monsoon!
