The Koyambedu Market located in Chennai will open a special market for the Pongal festival on 8th of January. The auction for collecting fees from retailers will take place on 30th December.
There will be special markets at the Koyambedu Market during the Pongal season every year. Here, sugarcane, banana plants, bunches of turmeric, bunches of ginger, mud pots, banana leaves, and various other raw materials to offer the lord will be sold. This special market for this year will take place between 8th and 17th of January at the empty space available behind the flower market.
Speaking about this, an official from the management committee of the market said the auction for collecting fees from the retailers in the special market and load carrying vehicles will take place on 30th December at 3pm. The venue of the action is the office of Chief Executive Officer of the Executive Council of the market.
The minimum auction amount is fixed as Rs 7,71,100. During last year, the auction price was Rs 7 lakh. Those who are willing to take part in the auction need to pay Rs 1 lakh as cheque in the name of Executive Board of Koyambedu Market. The bidder has to pay the bidding price along tax before 11 am on 31st December.
