Free text books and note books to be distributed by Tamil Nadu Government on 2nd January

Free text books and note books are distributed to the students studying in Tamil Nadu Government schools and government aided schools. There are 90 Lakhs students studying in classes 1 to 9. For the last few years, the free text and note books are distributed in three terms. This reduces the book weight for the students.
The second term note and text books were distributed to students. The schools in Chennai, Thiruvallur, Kancheepuram and Cuddalore Districts were closed for 33 days due to heavy rains. Because of this the second term note and text books were not distributed to students in these four districts. The teachers were not able to conduct classes because of this.
At this juncture, the schools are being reopened after vacations on 2nd January. It has been decided to distribute second and third term note and text books on the opening day itself.
