Upsurge in number of passengers traveling without ticket

An upsurge is observed with the number of passengers who travel without tickets in the Chennai MTC buses. Special Forces are deployed to identify these wrong-doers and charge fine.
 
Passengers are raided at various places including Chennai central, Egmore, Parrys, Purasawalkam, Tambaram, Sozhinganallur, T. Nagar, Vadapalani, Koyambedu, Anna Nagar, Ambattr, Aavadi, Guindy and other places.
 
A total of 20,584 passengers are recorded to have traveled without ticket during months of October, November, and December last year. About Rs 19,40,500 is collected as fine from these frauds. In October, from such 8,935 cheats, over Rs 8,78,000 is collected from those who traveled without ticket. The same was Rs 5,90,000 from 6,415 passengers in November. It was Rs 4,74,000 from 5,214 passengers in December 2015.
 
About 1500 employees are deployed to perform inspections and raids.
