Projects that have generated 418.9 MW of solar power have been commissioned by the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO). Small firms have been installed with capacities between 1 MW and 50 MW.
As per their contract, the companies will sell their power at Rs. 7.01 per unit for 25 years. Total solar power generated since October 2015 has been less than 100 MW. The monsoons and lower day time temperatures have been attributed to the low output.
Speaking about this, an official from TANGEDCO said, All the projects commissioned so far are less than 50MW capacity , most of them in Madurai, Ramanathapuram and nearby districts.Power generation has been at lower than the installed capacity.
