Southern Railway has decided to either cancel or partially cancel a few suburban train services. The services between Chennai and Gummidipoondi will be reorganised on January 21, 23, 25, 28 and 30. They will also be changed on February 2, 4, 6, 9, 11, 13, 16, 18, 20, 23, 25 and 27, and March 1, 3, 5, 8, 10 and 12. The reason for the changes is to carry out repair work on the section between Chennai Central and Guntur.
Some of the trains that will be partially cancelled are the EMU local between Chennai Beach and Gummidipoondi (train no. 42601). This train leaves Chennai Beach at 9.40 am. It will be partially cancelled between Ennore and Gummidipoondi. Instead, it will return from Ennore to the Moore Market Complex (MMC) as a passenger special.
The EMU local train no. 42015 between MMC and Gummidipoondi that leaves MMC at 10.25 am will be partially cancelled between Ennore and Gummidipoondi.
The EMU local train no. 42030 between Gummidipoondi and Ennore that leaves Gummidipoondi at 3.15 pm will be cancelled completely.
Special trains will run between Chennai Egmore and Tirunelveli. The trains have been commissioned to meet extra rush. Train no. 06181 Chennai Egmore to Tirunelveli super fast special train will leave Chennai Egmore at 10.45 pm on Jan. 25. It will reach Tirunelveli the following day at 12.30 pm. This train will stop at Tambaram, Chengalpet, Vizhupuram, Tirupadiripuliyur and Chidambaram.
Train no. 00642 Suvidha super fast special train between Tirunelveli and Chennai Egmore will leave Tirunelveli on Jan. 26 at 6.20 pm and reach Chennai Egmore the following day at 6.10 am. This train will make stops at Kovilpatti, Virudhunagar, Madurai, Dindigul, Tiruchchirappalli, Virudachalam, Villupuram, Chengalpet and Tambaram.
