Water level in water reservoirs are coming down

Since more drinking water is required in this scorching heat, the water levels in reservoirs are coming down.
 
In the last two months, the water level in the Poondi has come down by 1264 million cubic feet. Poondi, Sholavaram, Puzhal and Chembarapakkam lakes which are the Chennai city`s water drinking source were filled to the brim during the last North East Monsoon.  
 
Now there is increase of drinking water because of the scorching heat. Because of this, the water levels in the reservoirs are coming down. As per the statistics, the water level in the Poondi lake was 3224 million cubic feet. Day before yesterday, the water level in this lake was 1960 million cubic feet. In 2 months the level has come down by 1264 million cubic feet.  
 
The water level at Sholavaram lake which was 598 million cubic feet has now come down to 296 million cubic feet. The water level in the Puzhal lake which was 2,705 million cubic feet has come  down now to 2473 million cubic feet. Similarly the water level in the Chembarambakkam lake which was 2976 million cubic feet  has come down to 2552 million cubic feet.
 
Now the water levels of the lakes are coming down even before the commencement of Agni Natchathiram. When asked a metro water official that whether  Chennai will face water problems, he said,  Now there is sufficient water for five months. Hence there is no chance of water shortage.
