As per the decision taken by the central government Tourism Department during last September, the entrance tickets for visiting ancient famous tourist spots in the country was increased by 200 percent.
As the various tourism agencies strongly protested this, the decision was delayed.
As per the order coming into effect from 1st April, 2016 the earlier entrance ticket for foreigners visiting Taj Mahal was Rs. 250/- and now it is being increased to Rs. 500/-. As an additional Rs. 500/- is being collected as Entrance Tax, the foreign tourists have to spend Rs. 1000.
Even the local persons visiting Taj Mahal will have to pay more for entrance ticket, this has been increased from Rs. 10/- to Rs. 40/-.
