Mangoes season has begun in Tamil Nadu. Currently there is supply of 5 tonnes of mangoes in Salem. By end of this month there will be supply of 50 tonnes. Mangoes are harvested in large numbers in Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri and Namakkal districts in Tamil Nadu. Many varieties of mangoes are cultivated here. The mango season will begin during the last week of March till the last week of June. The cultivation is very good this here because the north east monsoon gave a helping hand. Now plucking of fruits is going on full swing. On 1st April, 1 ton mango arrived in Salem market now 5 tonnes have arrived.
Customers buy between 1 kilo to 5 kilo from this market. Mangoes are sold between Rs 50 to rs 120 depending on the quality. The rates will come down once the supply increases.
