Posted on: 13/Apr/2016 3:18:03 PM
Uber has cut fares by up to 22 percent in 10 non metro cities across the country. Cities like Indore and Nagpur have seen a 9 percent decrease in fares, whereas Jodhpur and Udaipur have seen a 22 percent decrease.

The base fare for all rides will now be Rs. 25, except in Udaipur and Jodhpur, where it is Rs. 40. The per kilometre charge has been revised to Rs. 7 from Rs. 8. In cities like Vishakhpatnam, Ahmedabad , Indore and Nagpur, the total fare cut will bring per kilometre cost down to Rs. 5. The fares have also been cut in cities like Pune, Ajmer, Mangalore and Thiruvananthapuram.

In an official blog post, UberGO said, We are decreasing UberGO prices by up to 22 percent making our service even more affordable for you to get where you need to go. But it`s also important to note that with increased demand drivers get busier as well. More demand increases driver efficiency on the road, resulting in more trips per hour, and less idle time while driving on Uber. With even more affordable fares, we believe Uber can be a viable alternative to people driving their own cars with all the hassle and cost that parking brings.

The cut in costs will be more competitive for rival Ola. Ola`s recently launched affordable prices service Micro offers rides as low as Rs. 6 per kilometre. Micro is available in 13 cities across the country, which include Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Pune, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Bhubaneswar, Coimbatore and Guwahati.
