Foreigners can also make advance reservations for train travel through IRCTC

IRCTC, Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation is set to introduce a new facility shortly for the foreigners and the Indians settled abroad in foreign countries to make advance booking of their travel.
Currently, the Indians living abroad and the foreigners visiting India are making their travel plans by booking through their friends & relatives in India.
As per the facility to be introduced, foreigners can reserve their train tickets in IRCTC. A senior Railway Official informed that IRCTC has ordered the administration to implement this facility.
Progress is in full swing to make arrangements for the foreigners have the facility of reserving their travel through IRCTC. It is expected to be implemented before the end of this month (April).
As it is, a large number of foreigners travel in trains like Maharaja &
Palace-on-wheels which are very popular. However, they make their bookings through agents.
IRCTC, a part of the Indian Railways, operates the website for booking train tickets. The booking arrangements have been enhanced to facilitate the booking of 15000 tickets per minute on the internet.
