A recent research establishes that only around 7 percent of MBA students in India get a job befitting their academic qualification.
The rest 93 per cent join whatever job comes their way with monthly salary as low as Rs. 10000/-.
The research was undertaken on behalf of ASSOCHAM.(Associated Chambers of Commerce of India). The survey results were released on Wednesday, 27th April.
There are over 5500 Management Institutes in India. Apart from some 20 best institutes, including IIMs (Indian Institute of Management), when the other institutes are considered, only 7 percent of these students get jobs befitting their qualifications. The balance 93 percent languish joining the jobs, whatever they get, earning less than monthly salaries of Rs. 10000/-. Fall in the quality of management education is attributed to be the main reason for this failure.
As compared to the last 15 years, it can be observed that the quality standard of even IIMs has come down.
In this context, as regards engineering courses, over 15 Lakh students complete these courses every year. However, the survey reports only 20 percent to 30 percent get befitting jobs.
