9784 electronic voting machines in 3771 booths in Chennai District

9784 electronic voting machines are to be used for the State Assembly elections in 3771 booths in Chennai District.
 
Chennai Corporation in its press release has mentioned: All the arrangements are being made for the forthcoming state assembly elections which is to be held on 16th May. Electronic voting machines and control machines have already been sent to 16 constituencies of Chennai District on 2nd May.  On Monday, in the presence of District Election Officer P Chandramohan, political leaders and general public, the electronic voting machines were drawn in lots for 3771 polling booths.
 
9784 electronic voting machines, 4841 control room instruments and 256 agreement slips were chosen by drawing lots. This will be used in the 16 state assembly constitutions.
 
VVPAT system is to  be used in Anna Nagar constituency for the first time on experimental basis. Upon casting the vote by pressing the button on the ballot unit, the voter will be able to view a printed slip through the transparent window on the VVPAT machine.
 
The printed slip containing the serial number, name and the symbol of the candidate for whom he or she has cast the vote would be displayed for about three minutes.
 
Afterwards, it gets cut and drops in the drop box of the machine.
