Fitness tests for some Chennai Metro Rail trains will be held next week. The tests will be carried out by the Research Design and Standards Organisation (RDSO). The trains are set to operate on the 9 km stretch between Little Mount and Chennai Airport. The tests conducted by RDSO are routine for the trains before entering service. Experts check parameters that include speed, dynamic, vibration and passenger comfort.
Speaking about this, an official from Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) said, In the next two months, soon after the inspection, we will receive the certificate of approval; then the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) will be invited to test the next stretch and give the final clearance.
Alandur will be the transit station between two lines when the new stretch opens. It will also connect the airport with the CMBT bus stand.
Currently, there are five trains that run on the stretch touching Koyambedu.
