Students seem to be very anxious as the counsellors claim that they receive a number of calls from 12th standard students. Officials working with the 104 helpline said they received calls from students during the morning before announcement of result. Students who were anxiously waiting for their results had called us, said B Prabhudoss, the regional manager for both the helplines 108 and 104.
They also added that they received too many calls this year. Compared to other years, this time, we have received three times more calls. This trend is worrisome. Students want to be anonymous even to their own parents. There is truly a gap between children and their parents, said the founder trustee of Sneha, Dr Lakshmi Vijaykumar. Sneha functions to aid those who tend to suicide.
