The procedure of filing Income Tax returns online has increased by 68.5 percent in the first month of the financial year, April. During last April alone, 8.32 Lakhs income tax returns have been filed online.
This news is released by the Central government’s Department of Direct Taxation.
As compared to this, during the last financial year 2015-16, only 4.94 Lakh income tax returns were filed online. Considering the whole financial year, 4.33 Crores income tax returns had been filed online.
As per the statistics released by the central government’s department of direct taxation, this financial year (2016-17), 832499 IT returns have been filed in the month of April 2016.
The central direct taxation department had implemented 9 different and easier procedures to file IT returns last year. This year, the department has simplified the procedures further.
Over the last few years, there has been remarkable changed in the procedure of filing IT returns that an individual can e-file on IT returns sitting in his/her residence easily and quickly.
As per the figures released by the central government’s direct taxation department, 5.235 Crore taxpayers have filed their IT returns in their time away from their office hours until 30th April.
This amounts to the fact that around 49.54 percent of those who filed their IT returns online have done it away from their office-hours. The taxpayers observe that the calculator provided for IT related calculations is very useful.
The central government’s direct taxation department released the new filing return forms on 30th March. It informed that the last date for filing IT returns is 31st July.
During last April, the state of Maharashtra leads in the number of taxpayers who filed their IT returns online.
The states of Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh follow after Maharashtra.
