In most cities including Chennai, a number of school students travel on footboard. There are too many complaints flowing in about the same. There are too many complaints claiming that many students drive bike without having license and they use mobile phones in classroom.

All the schools are set to get reopened day after tomorrow. At this juncture, the director of school education in Tamil Nadu has shared circulars to all principals of schools about manners and discipline to be followed. Here, it is stated that it is imperative to act with increased awareness about safety of school children. Hence, students and teachers need to follow a few practices. We should not allow students to travel in buses or autos in large numbers than comfortable and allowed number of passengers. This should never be allowed. This should be continuously insisted.

While crossing roads, not more than two people should join hands and cross. They should not pass through dividers on road. They should cross the road only on pedestrian crossing. They should obey traffic police’s signals and follow and road transportation rules. All schools should create awareness about accidents and hassles taking place due to footboard travel.

Students traveling on footboard need to be identified and warned. If they continue the same, the student and his parents need to be brought called and advised. If the student still continues the same and travels on footboard, their free bus pass will be cancelled and necessary action will be taken. The road safety oath should be taken during morning prayer in school.

They should be insisted that students should aging between 16 and 18 should get driving license without which they should not drive any two wheeler. If students do not obey this and continue to come in bike, their bike key has to be taken and handed over to their parents after insisting them not to let their child drive bike.

School management should not allow students bring cell phones. Mobile phones of those who disobey the rule should be ceased. Their parents should be invited and handed over to them. They should be informed about school rules and told that students should not bring cell phones to school and request the parents to insist their child to stop using cell phones in school.
