CMRL to operate metro coaches between St Thomas Mount and Chennai Airport soon

Safety report is being prepared since the trial runs are being conducted between St Thomas Mount and Chennai Airport. The safety report will be sent to Railway Safety Commissioner after which he will inspect it and give clearance. After this, the operational date will be announced.
 
An official of the Chennai Metro Rail said, In the next stage, the trains are to be operated in the St. Thomas Mount –Airport sector. This will cover 10 kms on elevated path. Now all the works connected with this sector are over. Now we are preparing the safety report and will be sending the same to the Railway Safety Commissioner. This testing of trains by RDSO is a mandatory technical requirement before the trains are pressed into commercial operations. If this approval comes, then Chennai Metro Rail will move an inch towards inaugurating its second stretch from Little Mount to Chennai airport.
