So far, bike races in India have been conducted only for men. Now, a bike race for women is all set to be organised.
This race would be held in Chennai and Coimbatore. The race is organised by Alisha Abdulla Racing Academy supported by the TVS Group.
The founder of Alisha Abdulla Academy, Alisha Abdulla spoke to the press reporters. Alisha Abdulla Racing Academy, located in Chennai, is the first ever training institute for the aspiring women bike racers.
The academy was founded to encourage the women with an interest in racing and to give them proper training.
TVS Company has come forward to give the bikes and the technical assistance to the training academy.
15 young women from Tamil Nadu, Bangalore, Goa, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and other places have been selected for the first phase of training.
They will participate in the biking race competitions to be held in Chennai and Coimbatore.
There will be 5 rounds in the competition. The 1st round is scheduled on 25th and 26th June.
The final round will be conducted in October. The winners will be given prizes. There are plans to send 2 outstanding women racers abroad for special training.
TVS Racing Group Head Arvind Bangankar informed that TVS Racing is resolved to give priority to 2-wheeler racing and make it a popular event in India. So, it is offering support to Alisha Abdulla Racing Academy.
The participants in the bike race are Haritha, Renuka, Ramya (all from Bangalore), Olishiya (Goa), Prathiksha (Mumbai), Harshini (Hyderabad), Sathya, Prathibha, Lakshmi, Thulasi, Priyanka, Varsha, Haidi Sushmi (all Chennai), Yamini (Salem), and Ishwarya (Coimbatore).
