Posted on: 15/Jun/2016 12:14:03 PM
There have always been issues with unauthorized traveling in first and second class coaches in suburban trains, men using seats meant for women, and there are a number of complaints about transgender. Keeping in mind about all these hassles, the southern railway has requested all its passengers to file complaints about such issues with the RPF helpline number 182 or with complaint cell number 138.

There have been reports about 60,000 such complaint bookings registered in the past five years. About 1700 men who travelled in women’s compartments were caught. Apart from this, smokers and tipplers, and complaints about harassing of women passengers and abuse or money extortion by transgender are the most commonly received complaints.

Stringent actions are taken proactively so as to comfort the passengers. In a recent statement from the railway department, it is stated that passengers need to make use of these helpline numbers to receive instant assistance and aid the administration to take remedies for the same.

Since the year 2011, there have been a number of such complaints filed with the RPF. A 50 percent hike in these cases is observed. Furthermore, additional helpline number – 2535 4457 and 2535 4405 are also launched for registering nuisance complaints.
