Ambedkar varsity receives three times more from last year

It has been mentioned that Ambedkar University has received thrice the number of applications than last year for its various undergraduate courses this year. B R Ambdekar University, which was established by Delhi Government in 2008, is a state funded varsity with student strength of 1800. The university offers various undergraduate, post-graduate and doctoral programmes.
The admission process for undergraduate courses offered by the nine departments at the varsity began on May 9 and the last date of application was June 24. The admission process concluded earlier this week with 26,777 applications for its undergraduate programmes — a substantial increase from last year’s 9,778.
The university begins new campus at Karampura with 200 seats this year, bringing the total seats to 445. But the number of applications has increased by over 173 per cent in one year. Similarly for the Kashmere Gate campus, which has 245 seats, the university received 15,823 applications.
For its postgraduate courses with a total of 480 seats, the varsity has received 7,885 applications against last year’s 5,687.
This year, the university has also waived fees for SC, ST and PwD (persons with disability) categories for undergraduate classes.
