The state government of Tamil Nadu has been initiating regular measures to cater to the milk demand of the people in Tamil Nadu, especially, the Chennai.
Now, the state government has announced plans to introduce new milk sachets which have a shelf-life of 3 months.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa had announced in the Legislative Assembly that a milk-processing plant to condition the milk at very high temperatures will be set up in Sholinganallur.
The Chief Minister discussed this with the Minister for Dairy Development, S P Shanmuganathan. The milk produced from this proposed plant can be kept even without refrigerators for up to 3 months without turning bad.
Installation of solar equipment and additional refrigeration rooms are being installed and set up in the Sholinganallur Dairy Farm.
It is worth noting here that about 11.5 lakhs litres of milk are being distributed daily in the Chennai.
