What happened to Sonia Gandhi?

Congress president Sonia Gandhi is believed to have undergone a successful surgery in a popular cancer hospital in New York city on Thursday.
Her sudden absence from the Capital for almost more than a week has surprised political circles and giving rise to intense speculation about the nature of the medical treatment for the 64 yrs old most powerful leader leader of the country.
Recently Tehelka news magazine reported on Twitter that Sonia was admitted on Thursday to New York’s Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, the world`s largest private cancer centre according to the hospital website.
The same report said that renowned oncologist Dr Dattatreyudu Nori, director of the cancer centre at the New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens, was said to be attending on her.
Meanwhile, Sonia Gandhi has notified a four-member committee, including AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi, to oversee the functioning of the party while she recuperates from a surgery abroad.
