Govt employees too can use social media while at work

The central government is likely to revise its rules such that government employees will be allowed to surf through social networking sites while at office. However, they are not supposed to make any posts against the government.
 
There are plans to make a few changes with the All India Service Rules Act. The department of personnel and training is drafting these changes. These rules will be applicable for higher officials like I.A.S, I.P.S, I.F.S, etc.
 
In the draft, it is stated that higher officials from the government are not allowed to make offending posts on social media or in any TV channel. At the same time, they are free to share general information and their thoughts.
 
The higher officials are also not allowed to make use of fake names to make posts online, talk in radio or TV.
 
Civil officials are also free to take part in events conducted by public entities. If these officials have got any product or at rate above two months of their salary, they need to intimate about the same. Stringent action will be taken who violate these rules. All chief secretaries of state government need to share their views or comments before 12th of August.
