Lorry and trucks owners in Tamil Nadu have decided not to take part in a strike called by Lorry Owners` Association across south India against the delay in implementing concession in toll charges that was agreed in 2010 and diesel prices.
After Tamilnadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa`s assurance relating to the demands of the members of the State Lorry Owners` Federation, the federation decided to run the five lakh lorries in the State and not take part in the strike.
President of Tamilnadu Road Transport Federation R Sukumar said " Jayalalithaa who listened to it assured that she would look into it and take necessary steps. Following this, we decided not to participate in the strike and run the five lakh lorries. The supply of essentials like rice and pulses that come under the PDS, petrol and diesel will not get affected "
