Mumbai is ranked as the most expensive city in India for Indian travelers, but it stands second as least expensive in the world, says a recent report. The least expensive destination in the world is Hanoi. A three days long break to New York will cost Rs 1,24,201 for Indians and this serves to be the most expensive city to visit.
 
The third least expensive city in the world is South Africa is Cape Town. The least expensive cities include Bangkok, Moscow, and Kuala Lumpur. In the sixth edition of annual TripIndex Cities by TripAdvisor, a three night break in summer between June and September in about 27 cities around the world was compared.
 
This research was conducted by TNS, an independent research. This TripIndex cities is inclusive of Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Pune, Jaipur, New Delhi, and Hyderabad.
 
This stay will be in a four star hotel for about three night, visit to about three places, lunch on all these days, a taxi, dinner on all these days, according to reporter.
 
Considering India, the lowest destination is Pune in Maharashtra for Rs 26,595. This is followed by Jaipur, Chennai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru, according to reports.
 
By spending a little more than the accommodation cost in Mumbai, a budgeted trip to Pune is possible. Data of this kind are of great help for the travelers to analyze different aspects of their holiday trip well before they decide on their final booking, said Nikhil Ganju, TripAdvisor India Country Manager.
 
When we want to eat anywhere out, globally, the most expensive place is Tokyo involving Rs 40,587 which is thrice than the price of Hyderabad which is costliest as far as India is concerned. In Hyderabad, the cost is Rs 13,668.
 
Tokyo has got the most expensive taxi ride for Rs 7736. This is 6 times higher than expense in New Delhi which is Rs 1224 and 12 times than Mumbai where it is Rs 628.
