In order to enhance the ranks in the 10th and Plus 2 examinations, special classes are held in the morning and evening in the government schools.

In order to motivate the special class students in the Chennai Corporation schools, biscuits and sundal are being offered. At the same time such kinds of snacks are not offered in government schools.

Students who have to attend 8 am special classes should leave their homes by 7 am. In the evening after completing the special classes, the student can leave only at 6 pm. It is not feasible for the student to have his breakfast and also has to leave late to home. Because of this, there are instances of students swooning down.

K. Thyagarajan, State president of the Tamil Nadu Asiriyar Munnetra Sangam (Tamil Nadu Teachers Development Association) said: Before commencing the special classes, the educational authorities should have asked the opinions of the parents and teachers. Whenever a student faints, the teacher buys him biscuit with his own money. Students who attend special classes in private schools are given quality snacks by their parents. They also give money to the students to but snacks in the canteen. There is no such facility in the government schools. Hence the government should provide snacks to the students who undergo special classes in government schools.
