Google India Vice President - Plan to bring in 100 Crore internet users in India

Rajan Anandan, Vice President of Google, South East Asia & India, informed that Google has set the target of increasing the internet users in India to 100 Crores.

Rajan Anadan was participating in a function held in Mumbai. He said that his company has set the target of raising the strength of  internet users in India to 100 Crores. However, no time limit has been set for this target.

Currently, there are 35 Crores internet users in India. It is expected that this would increase to 60 Crores by 2020.

In order to increase the number of internet users, Google joined hands with RaiTel (of Indian Railways) to set up free Wi-Fi facility in major Railway stations. The facility started in the start of this year.

Currently, around 20 Lakh internet users per month in 27 Railway Stations are availing this facility.Major projects are in progress to simplify access and usage of internet.

Google is planning special projects to bring in 3 Lakh women to use the internet in the next 3 years.

Google has also been working on increasing the speed, introduction of internet in languages other than English and Hindi.

The company is set to start Google Capital in India for the technology-oriented entrepreneurs.
