8 Public Sector Units to be closed

Since 8 Public Sector Units are unfit, the Central Government has decided to close it. These eight units are out of 74 loss-making public sector undertakings identified by the Niti Aayog for closure or sell off. The report is currently with the Prime Minster.
Once the Prime Minister`s Office (PMO) gives the in- principle approval to the proposal, the ministry responsible for administration of these PSUs will prepare detailed plan for closure of these firms. There are thousands of employees working in these PSUs. All of them will be losing their jobs. The Government has decided to compensate by offering VRS scheme to the employees
