Common entrance exam for dental and medical studies called NEETT will become mandatory from next year. President Pranab Mukherjee has given his nod for the same. The Supreme Court has ordered to conduct the common entrance exam for medical colleges. It has further insisted to conduct the entrance test right from this year.
Accordingly, the exam was conducted on 1st May and 24th July. However, there were oppositions by Tamil Nadu and few other states all of which were against these exams. Hence, an emergency law was imposed and the exam was cancelled for this year alone.
Two bills were passed in the lok Sabha both of which mandated conducting entrance exam for medical studies. These bills were passed by the Indian medical council. Following this, the President had given his approval for conducting these exams. From next year, NEET, a common medical entrance test will be conducted, according to Pranab Mukherjee’s approval.
