New courts inaugurated for cases on CBCID & Central Criminal Cell in Chennai

New courts for conducting cases on CBCID & Central Criminal Cell were inaugurated on Monday, 8th August.

The old court buildings in Egmore are being renovated. So, the courts functioning here have been shifted temporarily to Moore Market Allikulam Trade Complex building.

So far, the cases on CBCID & Central Criminal Cell were being enquired at the Egmore Head Criminal Justice Court and additional Head criminal justice court.

As more cases are taken for enquiry, there was a delay in the case proceedings. There was a demand to set up an exclusive court for cases on CBCID & Central Criminal Cell. The cases registered on violence against women under family violence prevention Act were also taken up in the above courts. There was a demand to set up an exclusive court for this as well.

The High Court administration sent 2 proposals with recommendations to set up 2 new courts to the state government of Tamil Nadu. The state of government of Tamil Nadu approved the proposal and gave clearance to set up 2 new courts at the Allikulam trade complex centre in Moore Market.

These courts were inaugurated on Monday, 8th August. The Chennai High Court Senior Justice Huluvadi G Ramesh inaugurated the courts. High court Judges M V Muralidharan, Tamil Nadu Legal Affairs Committee member Judge RM T Teekaraman, Chennai Metro Criminal Court Judge J Chandra, and others participated.
