The Central Government has mentioned that interlinking all police stations across the country in a common networked eco-system will be implemented by March. Minister of State for Home Hansraj Ahir while speaking in the Rajya Shaba said: To link all the police stations in India a new system called Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems ( CCTNS) has been introduced. This would lead to development of a national database of crimes and criminals.
CCTNS project will interconnect about 15,000 police stations and additional 5,000 offices of supervisory police officers across the country and digitise data related to FIR registration, investigation and charge sheets in all police stations. So far, 12,665 police stations and 5,233 higher offices have been integrated to the system. Altogether 4, 43,229 police personnel have so far been imparted role-based training across the country. CCTNS project which aims to connect all police stations in the country with the objective of tracking crime and criminals related data on real time, will be implemented by March 31 next year.
