Name of NLC changed to NLC India

The central government has changed the name of the public sector company, Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) located near Cuddalore.
The central government has announced that NLC would henceforth be called NLC India Company.
The name change has been announced despite some opposition from some of the political leaders in Tamil Nadu.
Out of the 100 percent stock of NLC India, 90 percent is owned by the central government. 5 percent is owned by the Tamil Nadu state government. The balance 5 percent is owned by NLC India employees.
