SRM Hotel, Chennai bags ISO 9001:2008 Certification

SRM Hotel, Chennai, a 60-room hotel has recently bagged ISO 9001:2008 Certification by Bureau Veritas Certification on behalf of International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO). The hotel is ISO certified for the past three years and now it has been re-certified after upgrading its standards from ISO 9001:2000 to ISO 9001:2008.

This certificate has been awarded after thorough auditing of the hotel by three ISO auditors and satisfactory maintenance of the ISO standards. ISO 9001:2008 is an upgraded standard, which ensures effective Quality Management system in the organisation. The hotel staff have also been trained in Food Safety Management Standards in order to provide clean and safe food to the guests. The hotel is adding another 40 rooms to make the room inventory to 100 by 2012, due to more demand.

SRM Hotel, Chennai is part of the SRM Group, which runs SRM University and also has interests in various fields like medicine, IT, TV and print media, travels, construction, hotel management institute etc. SRM Institute of Hotel Management is located near to the hotel in Chennai, which is one of the leading catering institutes in India. The Groups other hotel in Tiruchirapalli, which is a 100-room three-star property, has also been certified for ISO 9001:2008 this year. The Group’s new flagship hotel is a four-star property with 150 rooms, which is currently under construction at Guindy in Chennai and is expected to be launched by the end of 2012.
