Yesterday Chennai outskirts got battered. More rains are expected in the weekend in Chennai

Almost daily the thunderstorms are missing Chennai alone. This cannot continue like this forever. The Temp which is sizzling for past 10 days is expected to come down gradually from weekend. After a long time, a coastal station in Tamil Nadu has recorded 100 mm rainfall. Here is the Rainfall which happened around the Chennai City in mm ending 8.30 am on 24.08.2016

Mahabalipuram - 110
Uthiramerur - 81
Maduranthagam - 50

Its very nice to see a coastal place recording 100 mm rainfall that too during June-September.

Rainfall for Chennai and outskirts area for Today 

The sea breeze has moved inland ans triggered some storms. the belt around Siruseri-Kelambakkam will get some short spell of rains.There is also chance of rains happening in various part of city and outskirts in the night. This has been the pattern for last few days (rains after mid-night).

More Rain in coming days

The storms cannot be missing Chennai daily, we are bound to be hit by one or two good spells of rains before the month. This August will end with a bang. Earthquake in Myanmar of 6.8 scale intensity short while back.

Tremors are felt in Kolkata and other North Indian States, the displacement towards the Indian states is not very intense. There will be loss to infrastructure possibly in Mynammar around the epicenter. You can see in the map the acceleration is seen towards inland away from Indian coast.
