Maternity leave for government employees gets extended

Catering to what it has promised, the AIADMK government has now extended maternity leave for government employees from the existing six months to nine months.
 
During 2011, the government had extended the maternity leave from 90 days to 6 months. This time, the same is getting furthermore extended to 9 months, according to what the Chief Minister of the state had announced in the assembly.
 
Jayalalitha had also announced several plans for enhancing the government hospitals in the state. More buildings are to be constructed at the Madurai Rajaji Government hospital, Kilpauk government hospital in Chennai, and Coimbatore government medical college in order to better the healthcare facilities for vascular, cardio thoracic, plastic surgery, ENT and kidney treatment.
 
At a cost of Rs 356.50 crore, these hospitals are set to get hybrid OT, post-operative rooms, IVR rooms, conference halls, etc. likewise, c-arms, x-ray machineries, MRI and CT scans, etc are also to be incorporated in these hospitals. These will also have training centres along with stimulators. All these will be done at an overall estimate of Rs 497.41 crore.
 
The general hospitals at Salem, Vellore, Thanjavur, Tirunelveli, Trichy and Tuticorin will get an upgrade. At an expense of Rs 75.10 crore, these are also to get mammography, CT scan, ultrasound, imaging, etc.
 
Imaging, CT scan, endoscopy, haemodialysis, digital fluoroscopy, etc are to be set up at hospitals in Periyakulam, Krishnagiri, Pudukottai, Dingual, Cuddalore, Tirupur, Erode, etc. These will be done at Rs 153.60 crore expenditure.
 
Many other small government hospitals will also get revamped at a total cost of Rs 131.43 crore.
